Out With the Old

With the coming of the new year it is time I bite the bullet and do some more purging. I have accumulated a few more things this winter and so some things have got to go.
Behold the latest gleanings from my digital library. These are old backups, utility discs, driver discs, program discs, restore and operating system discs containing everything from Windows 95 to various distributions of Linux.
I have no idea how many items are here; with the removal of these items I was able to pare my data and software down to a single case!
I picked that old Unix book up when I first started playing with Linux back in the 1990s. That single book taught me more about Linux than almost all of the other Linux books I have bought over the years combined!
It is obsolete now, but I have kept it for sentimental reasons. I had so much fun reading through this book, learning how to work the command line and make Linux bow to my will! There was so much fun to be had in those pages, I am quite sad to see it go but I must be honest – it has been useless to me for a while now
.
I used to keep the older versions of Windows to use on older laptops when they came my way but I have to be honest: if a computer is too old to run Windows XP about the only thing decent it will run is DS Linux, so I need to stop fooling myself.
I bundled all of these things in a bag after I photographed them, and I still felt a pang over that old book, but such is life. Sometimes we have to move on!
Katie has started going through her closet and has pared down some clothes in her wardrobe; we plan to gather up some of these and donate them to the Salvation Army. I have some of my favorite clothes that have stains on them I am considering dyeing to bring them back to life but cannot decide upon a color (and I’m not in the mood for more black in my wardrobe).
What have you purged for the new year?

Great post! I?m just starting out in community management/marketing media and trying to learn how to do it well – resources like this article are incredibly helpful. As our company is based in the US, it?s all a bit new to us. The example above is something that I worry about as well, how to show your own genuine enthusiasm and share the fact that your product is useful in that case
