#1 Regret in Life

I stumbled upon an article we need to discuss. It lists the top five regrets of the dying. Click on the link. I’ll wait.

The #1 regret of the dying is not having had the courage to live a life that is true to yourself.

Think about that.

That means a large number of us are settling for the status quo, making do with a lifestyle that doesn’t suit who we really are inside. Instead of doing what makes us happy we do what makes us accepted. Where is the logic in this?

I was going to rant about this but then it occurred to me that living a life where you aren’t true to yourself is more cruel than any words than I can use here.

If you were to find out that you were dying, what would be YOUR biggest regret? Please share your thoughts in the comments below.

P.S. If you are not being true to yourself, you may want to check out this free manifesto I found the other day. It really has some food for thought. Also, can you share this post with your friends? Thanks!

Interesting article, Annie. I also found the regret #5 very thought provoking as well. (Regretting not allowing oneself to be happy.) I changed my life last year and its awesome. But unhappiness is a mental habit that can be hard to break. Its like if you’ve been unhappy for a long time, then you make a change and its great but you’re still waiting for some shoe to drop to take it away! Crazy!! I have to remind myself some days to just enjoy that I am now doing what *I* want with my time and allow myself to be happy. Don’t know if that makes any sense. . .

I wonder if it’s possible if being accepted by other people is what truly makes someone happy? My biggest regret if I didn’t have long to live is not doing enough to make new friends :D
