Super Frugality!

I used to be known as the Shoestring Girl. I lived on very little in order to make sure that my kids had what they needed.

I have lost my frugality badge, however. These guys have me beat:

Who is this guy? Does he have a “show”? Or is it just a random video?

    1. I have no idea. A friend of mine sent me the link this morning.

Ya I found him on YouTube. This is an old video.

  2. LOL, I have a feeling those are “fake” comedy videos. As for a few things that I have done to save money that I am willing to publicly admit:
    – Take a bunch of Chinese takeout soy sauce packets from someone else and use them to refill an empty soy sauce bottle.
    – Use shoe repair glue to rebuild worn out sections of the soles of a pair of shoes. (To my defense they were a pair of discontinued boat shoes that I had for close to 10 years that the uppers were still in great condition.)
    – Cut up the unused pages of old school notebooks to make pages for my refillable pocket notebook

  3. When I was living in a conversion van with limited water, I learned I could shower just once a week. In between, 3 oz of water poured on a washcloth was enough to clean my critical parts every day. Even when I did shower, I got wet, turned the water off while washing, then turned the water back on to rinse. I did something similar for brushing my teeth. A few ounces of water in a cup, dip my toothbrush in it to get it wet, apply toothpaste and brush, rinse brush in water cup, use remaining water to rinse mouth. Since I had to pay to dump my used water, saving water meant saving money.

    1. Hi Linda,

You lived in a conversion van? Please share your story!

I can imagine that you did have to conserve water. These days I believe some van dwellers use baby wipes to wash the critical bits. I even keep a pack in my car because you never know when you’ll need a quick wash up.

During summers in the country we had to seriously conserve water when the well was low. Sponge baths were the only baths to be had during those days.

      So…share?

      1. Yes, Linda, I have been reading your encouraging comments for literally years from up here in Canada… and can´t recall you speaking about van life before. We would also like to hear your experience with it! Do you blog or vlog? The closest testimonial I have heard lately is a gal named Christine Meachum travelling through the usa in her vehicle and youtubing the experience with her channel https://youtu.be/C7kCdF6-zG0?feature=shared
Looks like she has been travelling through Mexico recently.
        Well, Happy Easter to y´all!
